"This particular piece I am submitting is one of a collection of graphic-heavy posters I am creating on identity and the factors that affect our self-image.
This piece represents how comparing yourself to others can negatively affect your self-identity. It is aptly named 'Comparison Is The Killer Of Joy'. This is because everyone should be able to be proud of their own individuality, even if it isn't prized in a world which tries to standardise thinking, as "'To be yourself' in a world that is trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" (Ralph Waldo Emerson).
The aim of these pieces is to share the message that everyone forms their identities in different ways and there is no purpose in trying to conform to the same socially constructed standards as others if it isn't who you are. Just be true to yourself and your journey."
