"The mundanity, by Julian Tong, is perhaps as boring as it sounds. This is a short collective gathering of memories of my daily life - focusing on the most common aspects of what the environment, the ordinary is to me. In this case, I focus on my home of Hong Kong, where I have been figuring out a lot of issues about life, and how nomadic it feels for me sometimes - I think it ties into a lot of the work I produce, happening to observe everyone and everything, in as much detail my memory can possibly hold together. In a day and age where technology is so widely accessible and yet so efficient and available in a large urban environment in Hong Kong, you tend to miss out on the traditional idea of nature and you feel engulfed by skyscrapers, almost feeling like you're a magnified toy in the piece of a large puzzle. I find that despite all this, nature always finds it's way back into life. For me, the ordinary always has an element of nature, however hidden it may be."
