ERIKA PEARSE

“My practice is largely multimedia based and, at the moment, my primary focus is sculpture. I often find it difficult to narrow down my artistic concerns because there is always an overwhelming amount to talk about. My mind is constantly buzzing! However, the current focus of my work lies with issues surrounding feminism, femininity as an experience, the stigmatisation of women’s sexuality, nature, bodily rawness and human repulsion to the abject. I am keen to thoroughly research the properties and connotations of the materials I use in order to fully pull my ideas together. Last academic year, my main body of work comprised of crocheted yarn, latex, and, for the added gross factor, my own hair.”
