ERIKA PEARSE

"Bodily Stew’ is a sculptural work consisting of concrete blocks and stuffed fabric forms.
The concrete shapes are dirtied by a decaying latex skin. And they constrict, support and surround the curved body-resemblant fabric objects. Each fabric form possesses an identity within itself. Pink satin, purple satin, garish party glitter, protruding zips, kitsch lace, squshedness, nakedness and dangling hosiery. The tights further compress the forms, muting and trapping them together.
They’re funny, they look a bit wrong. A bit strange. They are tactile but you cannot touch them. The work is a dynamic ‘stew.’ And only I can stir it."
