"This group piece created by Ben Lundy, Alisa Madill, Edie Brunt and Oliver Davies, inspired by a group study of Helen Frankenthaller and her large scale paintings. Particularly referencing her expressive mark making and abstract forms, layering and overlapping colours to fill and flow out of her paintings. In addition to Frankenthaller the group was also inspired by Ana Mendieta’s series “Body works” and the way she works with her hands to make bold marks also in larger scale works, with the creation of them being particularly evocative and becoming art in their own rite. We worked together to put down multiple sheets of paper to paint over and continuously layer to create this group piece of a chaotic art explosion condensed into the corner of our studio. In its conclusion, manifesting a physical response to artist research in our course. "
