"‘You Are Crushing Me’ is a digital moving-image montage made up of video game characters—taken from NieR: Automata (2017)—that are visibly ‘suffering’ and on the brink of ‘dying’ while being trapped in a repetitive cycle they’re unable to leave. I’m interested in themes that touch on modern fem-cel culture and transgressive obsession involving young men. The film is an attempt at conveying the sado-masochist qualities that are embedded within these themes, portrayed from the perspective of a male victim, who addresses the viewer and his abuser as one."
