ANEELA SIDDIQUI

"This work is a collection of portraits of my friends and people I met at festivals, exhibitions and pride. My band were asked to play a festival called 'The Bearded Theory, spring gathering festival', where some of my favourite artists like Patti Smith, Peter Hook and Placebo were playing. It was an experience of a lifetime, dancing amongst old hippies on acid and the amount of queer energy was beautiful. Here I captured the people of the event and my band mates during gigs and raves. Later, during the year I found myself at an exhibition titled 'GOTH', at the Antwerp Mansion in Manchester where my friend was exhibiting amongst other artists. I can't begin to describe the amazing people I met that night, I had never felt so connected. The place was a looking-glass into the 80s, it was dingy and disgusting but that was the beauty of it."
