"This is a digital painting of a doll that I found in a vintage shop. When I found her she was (as you would expect of a century-old doll) quite beat up and not in her full glory, so to speak. I personified her in my mind, imagining what she might have been like, were she a real person. I believe she would be a tragic character. She called to mind Pierrot, the sad clown of Italian pantomime. I hope I showed her a bit of the love she deserves by painting her portrait."
